FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: PETITION AGAINST REZONING GROWS TO 3200; EXPANSION TO WAKEFIELD PROGRESSES

Volunteers recently began canvassing for support of current zoning at Dunn and Falls of Neuse north of the Neuse River and are finding tremendous support. Residents and homeowners to the north of the Neuse River in just two small neighborhoods have quickly brought the number of signatures against rezoning to about 3200. In the weeks ahead volunteers will be walking all of the neighborhoods in Wakefield where people have expressed the following concerns:

1) a strip mall such as the one being proposed is not appropriate for an existing residential area
2) such a strip mall is not appropriate so close to Falls Dam and other area amenities
3) such a strip mall will bring too much congestion and traffic
4) another grocery store is simply not needed

We thank our neighbors to the north for joining us in protecting the Falls of Neuse corridor!
