Earlier today Nancy McFarlane conveyed that Publix is no longer considering Falls of Neuse and Dunn Roads as a site for a Raleigh store. This is very good news.

However, what remains uncertain is what will happen with the property. She mentioned possible plans to offer a 28,000 square foot organic food store instead (however, she didn’t know which one). We explained that we support no change in the zoning and support development under the current zoning only.

At this time, development for any store greater than 30,000 square feet is off the table. For now we wait to see exactly what is proposed.

In the meantime a developer for Litchford and Falls of Neuse is moving forward with plans for a 23,800 square foot specialty grocery store. There will be a meeting Tuesday evening from 7 to 8pm at the North Raleigh Church of Christ at 8701 Falls of Neuse Road in the auditorium where the developer will present more information about that proposal. All are invited to attend.
