The official minutes from the May 12 hearing have been published. Here is an excerpt:
“Mr. Stephenson moved that the Council find that Z-1-14 is not reasonable and in the public interest for a number of reasons. It is incompatible with the comprehensive plan in a number of policies principally the FLUM which shows this as a neighborhood mixed use designation which calls for a much smaller scale development, incompatible with the capacity of the street system in the area, incompatible with the long range plan for land in the urban overlay protection district which is to be used in the future for one of our water supplies. For those reasons, Mr. Stephenson stated he would deny the case. The motion was seconded by Mr. Maiorano and put to a vote which passed unanimously. The Mayor moved the motion passed on an 8-0 vote. His motion was seconded by Mr. Maiorano and a roll call vote resulted in all members voting in the affirmative. The Mayor ruled the motion adopted on an 8-0 vote.”
After all of this, most of Council and the Mayor refuse to say if they will or will not rezone the same land to the same zoning designation under the City’s zoning remapping initiative.
